AM means morning,
PM means afternoon, evening & night right.

It's actually,
AM - After Midnight = Morning.
PM - Pre Midnight = Afternoon, Evening and Night.
Actually,
The creators of those terms wanted to add another term.
DM - During Midnight = Midnight.
But, they were afraid of confusing the later generations, which is now.

Google up the real meaning . AM = ANTE MERIDEMIEM. PM = POST MERIDIEM.
